Life in Afghanistan January-March 2002 is my personal memoir of my 74 days in Kandahar (Kandahar does hold significant religious and historical importance in the region) 4 months after the 9/11 attacks in New York. I give you the day-to-day trials and tribulation of “the glamour industry” from behind what you see and hear.
-
Working
Working with Afghan locals, military and news agencies from every corner of the globe. Never knowing where you will be tomorrow. Trying to keep the euipment running.
-
Amazed
No big box stores. Just small business at its finest. No School (Taliban rule) but smiles on dirty faces everyday as they work and play. The work ethic and respect was off the charts.
-
Retrospect
Fresh graves everywhere. Old Soviet landmines disabling children as they play. Hoping your family is ok as you surrender yourself in the event you cover and hoping tomorrow comes.
